U10 girls, we will do a round of stations this week. I will do a mass warm up -10 minutes. Then we will split up and start stations (8-10 minutes per station...I will blow the whistle to move in a counter clockwise direction). We will run 4 stations and each coaching pair will have a built in break.
U10 boys, you will run your own practices and then boys have a mixed scrimmage, I may email you to see if we can swap mixed scrimmage to next week and run a practice this week...if you don't hear from me it will be mixed scrimmage.
Focus: off ball movement
Much of the game of soccer is spent without the ball so what are we doing when we don't have the ball? Start to introduce the ideas of support, width, and also the basic give and go!
Warm up: Dribble grid (use both feet, pulls, toe taps, tictocs, turns and dribble to a cone on the outside and then go around it 2x in one direction and 2x in the other--- move to players trying to hit each others ball with their ball (one point for each hit...try playing to five. Then play a game of shark, remind them of basic shielding....could do this before playing hit other peoples balls.
Agility Relays, set up some agility equipment and do some basic relays.
Game: Alley Soccer (Natalie/Arlana)
Create two alleys on either side of your field
Working on width. Can not check the allies or go in the allies, only ally players can be in the alley. If you are short on numbers have one person play in the ally and play to whomever passed them the ball or have a coach in one alley doing this and then two players in the other alley. In order to try and score the team must complete one pass to the alley
(Matt & Renee)
Basic pass and move drill that works on opening up, this is very important for players anywhere on the field but especially on the wings (width).
-Passing and Moving Drill (working on following your pass and opening up as you receive...first drill on link only)
(Josh & Isaac)
-Basic Give and Go Drill
Start with a "dummy" defender/cone...move to live defender. Have them shoot after wall pass.
move to this drill
(Kendra)
More complex drill to work on passing and moving and width and support. Modify according to numbers of players, can have a coach or parent play in the squares too.
